Eligibility
The competition is open to all the students belonging to the age group of 14 - 18. (If you fall below this age range, please, contact us. We will make arrangements, if possible.)
Notification
Once you have registered for the event, we will send you a confirmation mail.
After the preliminary round, the shortlisted participants will be sent a mail containing a division number.(For more information, refer to ‘format and procedure’)
Qualifiers for each round will be posted on our official website.
Link containing the preliminary round will be sent to you via mail.
Please, stay updated (through our social media handles) for more information and the declaration of results.
*If you do not receive the confirmation mail (within seven days from the date of registration), please, contact us through our social media handles or call us on our respective numbers mentioned in the website.
Format
Round 1(Preliminary Round):
A Link will be shared with you through a mail.
Open the link to access the quiz.
You will have to answer 50 questions (both MCQs and Fill in the blanks) within 25 minutes.
There is no negative marking. Each correct answer will yield you 5 marks.
If there is a tie, the decision will be based on the five star-questions (which will be mixed with the other 45 questions).
The link will be valid only for 30 mins. After which we will not accept any more submissions.
The top 32 participants will qualify for further rounds. (posted on the website)
Round 2 (Qualifiers):
All the 32 participants who have qualified for this round will be randomly divided into four groups of eight participants each. (For example: If you get Division No. 1, you will join the quiz room with the other seven participants of the same number)
A Live interactive quiz will be held for each of the four division groups via a Zoom Call.
The format for the Live Quiz is Classified. (Will be informed during the quiz)
Three participants from each group will be selected for the semi-finals.
Round 3 (Semi-Finals):
In this round, the knockout system will be followed. After every 6 questions, two semi-finalists with the lowest scores will be disqualified.
There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
The top 4 participants will compete in the Final Round.
Round 4 (Finals):
We will have a rapid fire round (1 min for each finalist). Each correct answer will yield you +10 points and each wrong answer will penalize you with -5 points. If you want to skip any question, just say next.
This will be followed by a topic-wise quiz where each finalist will be asked four questions round-wise. If the finalist fails to answer, the question will be passed to the next finalist.
Last 4 bonus questions will be presented to the house (each weighing 50 marks.These bonus questions will also be negatively marked -20 for each wrong answer)
After this, the scores of each finalist will be added and the top 2 participants will receive cash prizes. (For more information, please, refer to the ‘perks’ section)
Perks
Free Registration
Certificate of Participation will be mailed to all the participants.
Cash Prize worth Rs 1000 for the champion and Rs 500 for the Runner Up (transferred digitally) along with certificates.
The top 12 participants will be featured on our website and social media handles.
The winners with their pictures will get featured on our homepage as Alpha Geeks Quiz Champions 2020.
